Exploring Celebration and a Date at the Polynesian

Yesterday afternoon, Jon and I had to go to the post office and the bank. Well, both of these things just so happened to be in Celebration, Florida, the town built and designed by Disney. So we decided to go there!

Super odd that there was an abandoned movie theater in this town.

Let me tell you. That place was like being in the Twilight Zone. There was nothing but preteens and old people. Pretty much no parents in sight. Every kid had a skateboard and a smartphone. There were families riding matching segways on the sidewalks and middle-aged people riding stand-up elliptical bikes. They had community electrical cars and.. it was just all so weird.

After that, Jon and I decided to head to the Polynesian Resort to get our very first Dole Whips, ever! Dole Whips were just announced to be vegan sometime last year, so this was very exciting. Once we arrived, we headed to Captain Cooks and swirled away.

Personally, I thought they were a bit over-hyped. Not saying they weren't good, just nothing out of this world. I only ate half of mine so Jon finished it - it's definitely enough for two people to share!

I also grabbed some noodles out of the cooler while we were there, because I wanted some real food. They were really good and fairly filling - especially for the price!

After that, we walked past the pool and headed over to the beach. We sat in a swing for a while before leaving.

Before heading home, we decided to hop on the monorail and take a ride. When we got to the Grand Floridian, we decided to get off and explore since I had never been inside the resort and I wanted to mark it off my list.

This resort is AMAZING! The lobby is just incredible. Especially all the live music being played. We were both a bit blown away. Once we got over our initial shock, we started our adventure. We went and found all the restaurants, checked out the pool, and went to the little ferry dock to sit for a while.

The sheet music that was sitting around upstairs was awesome.

Cute decor.

Checking the temperature.

This would be an amazing spot to watch Wishes.
After that, we hopped back on the monorail and headed back to the Polynesian to get our car. After we got home, I made a quick dinner and turned in early for my Traditions class in the morning.

  1. If you are looking to splurge on a date night, try Narcoosee's. If you get a reservation at just the right time, you can see Wishes from there. The food is incredible. Pricey, but we do get a cast discount. Another tip if you want to check out restaurants around property but don't want to eat: most have a bar where you can just go in and have a drink.
